JennAir is addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) in the design sector creating greater access to opportunities for underrepresented groups or racialized students and designers. H&K supported JennAir in developing the Disrupting Design program to respond to issues of underrepresentation and inequality in the sector.
H&K brokered a partnership between JennAir and TMU to build the program, which consists of $375,000 in scholarships awarded to racialized students studying at TMU’s Interior Design School.
JennAir is also building a mentorship program to support graduates at the early part of their design career. To develop deeper insights, H&K helped JennAir form and facilitate the Disrupting Design Advisory Board, a committee comprised of eight design and DE&I leaders. H&K led the design and production of the event to launch the program, with a panel discussion on DE+I in design and with key design industry stakeholders and media.
